Crew Leader, Erosion Control & Construction
Overview
Construction Crew Leader will own daily field operations for a 2-3 person crew, ensuring erosion control projects run on schedule and meet quality standards. You will coordinate tasks, monitor productivity, and train crew members while adhering to DOT safety regulations. Part of the largest erosion control contractor in the Southeast, you will work with specialty materials and heavy equipment like Bobcat and excavators. The role demands physical endurance and leadership in outdoor environments, with immediate start and overtime available.
What You'll Do9
- 1Coordinate daily crew tasks by scheduled routes and adjust as site conditions change.
- 2Monitor attendance and productivity for a 2-3 person crew, addressing gaps immediately.
- 3Train crew members on proper equipment use and safety procedures for Bobcat and other machinery.
- 4Review daily work orders and verify material loads match the assignment, preventing delays.
- 5Enforce company safety standards, promoting a safety-first culture among crew members.
- 6Report project progress, risks, and opportunities to Area Quality Managers daily.
- 7Assist crew with loading/unloading materials and performing site prep: clearing, filling, compacting.
- 8Install silt fencing and erosion control blankets using hand tools, ensuring compliance with specs.
- 9Perform site clean-up and reload leftover materials after job completion to maintain readiness.
Requirements8
- 13+ years of verifiable driving record with a valid driver's license.
- 2Pass DOT physical and drug screen.
- 3Prior work experience as a Foreman or Crew Lead.
- 4Operate small machinery like Bobcat and excavating equipment.
- 5Drive ½ or ¾ ton trucks with a 20+ foot trailer fully loaded.
- 6Physically able to walk, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- 7Work in inclement weather (rain, heat, cold).
- 8Understand and follow directions in English; bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
