Overview

You will own on-site quality assurance for commercial roofing projects, verifying installation against contract documents, manufacturer guidelines, and Mantis standards. You are the independent eyes in the field, protecting project quality, safety, and long-term performance. Reporting daily with clear observations and photos, you will identify issues early and communicate them before they escalate. This role suits someone with strong knowledge of the commercial roofing industry and a willingness to travel frequently, including stretches of up to three weeks. You will work with project teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring every project is done right the first time.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Review project plans, specifications, and submittals to understand scope and materials before field work.
  • 2Observe contractor installations on-site, verifying compliance with contract documents, manufacturer guidelines, and quality standards.
  • 3Monitor installation methods, material handling, storage, and substrate preparation, documenting progress and deficiencies.
  • 4Identify quality issues or deviations from plans and communicate them clearly to project teams before they become larger problems.
  • 5Verify critical milestones such as watertight conditions and system integrity during installation.
  • 6Participate in punch list walks, closeout reviews, and warranty inspections to ensure final quality.
  • 7Prepare detailed daily observation reports with photographic evidence and upload them to company systems.
  • 8Communicate regularly with project managers, contractors, and team members regarding site conditions and progress.
  • 9Support other CQA Observers and Survey Technicians to complete project work as needed.
  • 10Actively report on jobsite safety conditions, escalate unsafe practices, and exercise stop work authority when immediate risk exists.

Requirements10

  • 1High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • 3Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • 4Proficiency with Microsoft Office and tablet-based field tools.
  • 5Ability to perform physical field work including climbing ladders and navigating active construction sites.
  • 6Roofing or building envelope certifications (RRO, RRC, IIBEC coursework, etc.) preferred.
  • 7OSHA 30 and other safety certifications preferred.
  • 8Experience in construction, roofing, or building envelope projects preferred.
  • 9Prior CQA, inspection, or quality oversight experience preferred.
  • 10Willingness to travel up to 80-90% including overnight stretches of ~3 weeks at a time.
