Counselor III - Youth Mental Health & Crisis Counseling
Overview
You will lead clinical services for youth and families across non-residential and residential programs at Lutheran Services Florida, delivering individual and family counseling, crisis intervention, and comprehensive assessments. You will manage a caseload, coordinate community advocacy, and chair multi-disciplinary team meetings such as TURN and CINS/FINS court proceedings. Supervising clinical staff and ensuring documentation compliance, you will be the lead clinician shaping therapeutic outcomes. What You'll Do9
- 1Deliver individual, group, and family counseling to youth in home, office, and community settings, applying CBT and TF-CBT interventions.
- 2Conduct intake assessments, psycho/social evaluations, suicide risk screenings, and treatment planning, documenting with DSM-5 criteria.
- 3Provide 24/7 on-call crisis intervention and in-home support, using CPI de-escalation techniques.
- 4Chair TURN committees and represent clients in CINS/FINS court proceedings, advocating with courts, schools, and agencies.
- 5Supervise and mentor clinical staff by leading case staffing, monthly meetings, and providing guidance on complex cases.
- 6Manage a caseload of 15-20 families, ensuring timely progress notes and compliance with DHH and C&F reporting requirements.
- 7Coordinate community-based services and referrals, acting as a liaison between LSF and partner agencies.
- 8Review and sign off on client files to ensure accuracy and adherence to licensing standards, including HIPAA.
- 9Teach parents positive behavioral strategies to strengthen family unity and meet children's physical and emotional needs.
Requirements10
- 1Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field.
- 2Active license or eligibility for licensure in Florida (e.g., LMHC, LCSW, LMFT).
- 35+ years of experience in counseling, with preference for adolescent and family therapy.
- 4Proven ability to facilitate group sessions and perform intake, psycho/social, and risk assessments.
- 5Valid Florida driver's license and reliable vehicle for home visits and court appearances.
- 6Certification in First Aid/CPR and crisis intervention (e.g., CPI).
- 7Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- 8Capability to work non-traditional hours and travel within the local community.
- 9Commitment to cultural sensitivity and serving diverse populations.
- 10Clean background screening as required by Florida's Care Provider Clearinghouse.
