Counsel, Construction Law
Overview
The Counsel role reports to the head of the legal department and serves as an integral part of the organization by negotiating construction contracts, proactively mitigating risk, managing formal disputes, and providing legal advice. This role works closely with the project team and corporate departments to proactively identify and mitigate risk while promoting compliance with applicable laws. The Counsel position requires experience in construction law and contract drafting.
What You'll Do5
- 1Draft and negotiate contracts including construction contracts subcontracts supplier agreements financing consents estoppels confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements consulting agreements and commercial contracts
- 2Mitigate risk and promote compliance through proactive legal advice advising on key upstream and downstream risks and drafting notices
- 3Manage and advise on formal claims disputes and litigation working closely with outside counsel and the risk management department
- 4Contribute to the development of legal templates training materials and best practices
- 5Builds trust through transparency and consistency
Requirements4
- 15+ years building ETL pipelines with Spark and Airflow
- 2Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- 3Licensed to practice in or willing to become licensed in applicable jurisdiction(s)
- 45-10 years experience in construction law and contract review
