Corporate Controller, Multi-Unit Retail & AT&T
Overview
The Corporate Controller owns financial reporting and operational finance for the nation's largest AT&T Authorized Retailer, spanning thousands of locations. In this role, you will lead all accounting functions, deliver P&L reporting that drills from consolidated statements to store level, and drive profitability analysis with executive dashboards. You will partner directly with leadership, oversee M&A due diligence, and manage AT&T commission reconciliation. This position offers the chance to shape financial strategy at scale, automating processes with Power BI, Power Query, and Power Automate.
What You'll Do9
- 1Lead the monthly and annual financial close, ensuring GAAP-compliant reporting and timely delivery of consolidated statements.
- 2Build and maintain P&L reporting that drills from company level to region, market, district, and store, enabling granular profitability analysis.
- 3Analyze revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and EBITDA, identifying trends and drivers to support strategic decisions.
- 4Deliver executive dashboards and KPIs using Power BI and Power Query, automating financial reporting and analytics.
- 5Oversee store-level profitability across thousands of locations, recommending improvements based on commission and attachment rate trends.
- 6Manage multi-state indirect tax compliance, including Use Tax, Gross Receipts Tax, and Business Personal Property Tax, plus licensing for new stores.
- 7Reconcile AT&T commissions against internal sales, investigating discrepancies and recovering underpayments with automated analytics.
- 8Lead financial due diligence for acquisitions, building valuation models and presenting investment recommendations to leadership.
- 9Maintain robust internal controls, manage external audits, and develop scalable accounting policies that support growth.
Requirements8
- 110+ years of progressive accounting or finance leadership experience.
- 23+ years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role, overseeing multi-team operations.
- 3Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (required); Master's degree or CPA (preferred).
- 4Proven experience supporting large multi-unit retail organizations with complex P&L reporting.
- 5Hands-on M&A experience, including financial due diligence and valuation modeling.
- 6Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including modeling, Power Query, Power BI, and Power Automate.
- 7Direct experience with AT&T systems, reporting tools, and commission reconciliation processes.
- 8Deep knowledge of indirect tax compliance systems and SOX internal control frameworks.
