Construction Project Manager - Government Projects
Overview
We seek a skilled Project Manager to lead federal construction initiatives in Chicago. You will own projects at scale delivering effective management cost estimation and team leadership. This role drives success through strategic oversight and execution.
What You'll Do12
- 1Demonstrate effective project management tasks including due diligence design review value engineering subcontract scopes negotiations and schedule control
- 2Manage multiple projects and supervise construction personnel across varying job sizes
- 3Accurately estimate project costs and author scopes for bidders
- 4Coordinate field activities between ownership and the office while maintaining site conditions and job costing
- 5Handle full project lifecycle including scheduling purchasing quality and safety
- 6Participate in pre-construction services such as estimating and value engineering
- 7Supervise engineers assistant project managers and interns
- 8Negotiate financial disputes and change orders with owners
- 9Serve as primary contact for project staff architects subcontractors and engineers
- 10Document and negotiate changes affecting project completion or contract costs
- 11Provide on-site supervision and coordinate subcontractor activities
- 12Plan and manage all site activities across sub-trades ensuring safety and quality standards
Requirements10
- 1Minimum 10+ years of construction project management experience specifically in federal projects
- 2Proven decision-making under tight deadlines
- 3Strong leadership managing multiple projects
- 4Understanding of construction law
- 5Completion of OSHA 30-hour training
- 6Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Construction Management or related field
- 7Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
- 8Familiarity with Microsoft Project Word Excel and Outlook
- 9Experience with AWS Certified tools
- 10Knowledge of CPC Card certification
