Collision Estimator Job in Detroit | Gerber Collision
Overview
You will own the full estimating process at a high-volume Detroit collision center, assessing vehicle damage and coordinating repairs from intake to delivery. You will use I-CAR guidelines and DRP compliance requirements to write accurate appraisals and update customers and insurers in real time. You will collaborate with production and management teams to hit KPIs while delivering a standout customer experience. What You'll Do8
- 1Document every customer interaction with accurate details in the estimating system, ensuring updates reach all stakeholders.
- 2Greet customers in person and by phone, guiding them through repair timelines and setting clear expectations.
- 3Assess vehicle damage on-site, recording needed repairs and parts replacement per OE guidelines.
- 4Write estimates that meet insurer requirements and DRP processes, checking for compliance at each step.
- 5Coordinate repair needs with technicians and parts teams, confirming all work aligns with the repair plan.
- 6Communicate customer requests and updates to the right team members, keeping workflows moving.
- 7Participate in daily production walks with management, flagging issues that affect repair efficiency.
- 8Support teammates during peak periods, covering tasks that keep customer satisfaction high.
Requirements8
- 11+ years experience in collision estimating or a related role.
- 2High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3Working knowledge of OE repair guidelines and collision damage assessment.
- 4Basic computer skills for estimating software and digital documentation.
- 5Must complete I-CAR training as part of onboarding.
- 6Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
- 7Awareness of DRP compliance requirements and insurer processes.
- 8Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
