Overview

You will operate CNC lathes, mills, and grinders to produce ITAR-compliant aviation parts at Aerosonic, a leader in flight instrumentation. Your work directly supports AS9100 and FAI documentation standards. You will collaborate with a team of machinists in Clearwater, FL, where all work is onsite. This 6-month contract demands 10+ years of CNC setup experience and mastery of 0.0005" tolerances.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Set up and run CNC lathes (live tool/Y axis), Haas mills, DMG machines, and Mazak mills to hold 0.0005" tolerances.
  • 2Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining sequences for ITAR-restricted components.
  • 3Inspect finished parts with CMM equipment and standard gauges to meet AS9100 and FAI requirements.
  • 4Troubleshoot machine operations and perform routine maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • 5Operate 4/5-axis machines for complex geometries on aerospace alloys.
  • 6Collaborate with engineers and quality teams to refine machining processes and reduce scrap.
  • 7Maintain a clean, safe work area per OSHA standards and company protocols.

Requirements8

  • 110+ years setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes, specifically Haas, DMG, and Mazak.
  • 2High school diploma or equivalent; vocational machining certification preferred.
  • 3Proven skill with 4/5-axis machining and live tooling on lathes.
  • 4Experience with CMM inspection and FAI documentation.
  • 5Hard tooling experience and ability to hold 0.0005" tolerances.
  • 6Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T.
  • 7U.S. Person status per ITAR regulations.
  • 8Strong problem-solving and attention to detail in a production environment.
