CNC Lathe Operator, Precision Manufacturing & Machining
Overview
Own the operation of CNC lathes to produce precision parts for aerospace, oilfield, and industrial applications. You'll join a family-owned Houston shop celebrating 35+ years of quality, where each team member contributes to a quality-driven culture. In this hands-on role, you'll load materials, monitor machine performance, and verify finished parts with precision measuring instruments. What You'll Do12
- 1Operate CNC lathes to produce parts per production schedules, work instructions, and supervisor direction.
- 2Load raw materials into machines and unload completed parts, maintaining efficient workflow.
- 3Monitor machine operation, control panels, and displays to ensure equipment runs properly and adjust as needed.
- 4Read and follow blueprints and job specifications to understand setup and part requirements.
- 5Load machine programs into CNC controls and select, measure, and secure tooling as instructed.
- 6Calculate or verify machine speeds, feeds, and operating parameters, and make minor offsets to maintain quality.
- 7Use calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify finished parts meet specified requirements.
- 8Perform in-process inspections, document part counts, and maintain production records with accuracy.
- 9Assist with routine machine maintenance and replace worn tooling to minimize downtime.
- 10Maintain a clean, organized, safe work area and follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- 11Promptly report any machine, tooling, production, or quality concerns to the supervisor.
- 12Move raw materials, finished parts, and tooling as needed, and assist with other duties as assigned.
Requirements7
- 12+ years of experience operating CNC lathe machines in a production or manufacturing environment.
- 2High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3Basic shop math skills and ability to read and understand simple blueprints.
- 4Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (U.S. Citizen, National, lawful permanent resident, or refugee/asylum status).
- 5Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand, walk, and bend throughout the shift.
- 6Preferred: Experience operating CNC lathes in production, familiarity with engineered plastics, and ability to read GD&T symbols.
- 7Preferred: Familiarity with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards.
