CNC Burn Table Operator, Night Shift
Overview
Own the CNC burn table operation for a Kansas City fabrication shop, producing high-quality parts from raw plate steel. You'll run plasma cutting machines with torches, working Mon–Thurs nights (4 PM–2:30 AM or 8 PM–6:30 AM) with OT as needed. Training starts on day shift, then you take full control of the table. This role demands precision and mechanical aptitude, and you'll directly impact production throughput and part quality.
What You'll Do9
- 1Operate CNC burn table machines safely using plasma cutting and torches to cut parts from steel plate.
- 2Read blueprints and mechanical drawings to understand part specifications and cut paths.
- 3Translate instructions into CNC commands for the machine to execute correct operations.
- 4Load raw materials and parts onto the machine table, aligning them for accurate cutting.
- 5Run test programs to verify machine output against specifications before full production.
- 6Set machines to complete full cycles for batch fabrication, adjusting parameters to maintain quality.
- 7Supervise machine operations, making real-time adjustments for optimal cutting results.
- 8Inspect finished parts, compare with drawing requirements, and identify parts for later processing.
- 9Perform daily maintenance on CNC equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
Requirements7
- 12+ years proven experience as a CNC burn table operator.
- 2Ability to operate CNC burn table machinery and tooling, including plasma systems.
- 3Skilled in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and blueprints.
- 4Strong mechanical aptitude and math skills for precise measurements.
- 5Detail-oriented with a results-driven approach to quality and productivity.
- 6Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members.
- 7High school diploma or equivalent; CNC certification is a plus.
