
Cloud Engineer, AWS GovCloud & EDP Infrastructure
Overview
You will own the day-to-day operation and evolution of the AWS GovCloud infrastructure that powers the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP), serving analytics and AI/ML workloads at scale. You will partner with senior platform engineers, security, and application teams to keep the platform secure, reliable, and fast. This role stands out because you will directly influence architecture decisions and automation strategy in a mission-critical government cloud environment.
What You'll Do7
- 1Provision and maintain AWS GovCloud resources using Terraform and CloudFormation to support EDP workloads.
- 2Automate deployment pipelines with Jenkins and GitLab CI to reduce release cycles.
- 3Monitor system health and performance with CloudWatch and Prometheus, then act on alerts to resolve incidents.
- 4Implement security controls and compliance checks using AWS Config and GuardDuty to meet FedRAMP requirements.
- 5Collaborate with data engineering teams to optimize S3 storage and EMR cluster configurations for cost and speed.
- 6Document infrastructure changes and runbooks to improve operational visibility and training.
- 7Support migration of existing workloads to AWS GovCloud with minimal downtime.
Requirements8
- 13+ years hands-on experience with AWS core services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM).
- 22+ years building infrastructure as code with Terraform or CloudFormation.
- 3Proficiency in Python or Bash for automation and scripting.
- 4Solid understanding of networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing) in a cloud environment.
- 5Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
- 6Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitLab CI.
- 7Knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP).
- 8Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in an onsite role.
