Clinical Nutrition Coordinator - Dietitian Leadership
Overview
As a Clinical Nutrition Coordinator at UPMC, you will own the delivery of nutrition care across a diverse patient population, coordinating programs that impact hospital-wide quality. You will manage a clinical team, oversee daily operations, and drive process improvement initiatives. This role blends direct patient counseling with program leadership, offering a path to influence system-wide policies. You will also mentor dietetic students and lead quality initiatives, with the chance to step into the manager's role as needed.
What You'll Do10
- 1Provide nutrition education and counseling to patients and families based on their learning needs, and adjust for diverse patient populations.
- 2Lead interdisciplinary committees to improve nutrition care processes, and develop, implement, and evaluate nutrition programs.
- 3Prepare educational materials and presentations, and contribute to department and hospital-wide policies.
- 4Develop goals and objectives for Clinical Nutrition to maintain high quality care, and support the professional growth of your team.
- 5Oversee daily workflow, including scheduling, and manage staffing levels to meet clinical budget expectations.
- 6Direct and mentor dietetic students and support personnel, and manage recruitment, hiring, and training for your team.
- 7Maintain and expand expertise in TJC standards, healthcare informatics, and current trends in clinical nutrition.
- 8Identify and lead Quality Process Improvement activities, using evidence-based practice to achieve measurable outcomes.
- 9Manage outpatient billing to ensure compliance, and monitor expenses and man-hour utilization to meet budget goals.
- 10Step in as manager in their absence, ensuring continuity of leadership and care.
Requirements9
- 14+ years in Nutrition and Dietetics, with 1+ year in a leadership role.
- 2Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.
- 3Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- 4Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) in Pennsylvania.
- 5Strong leadership skills to motivate and develop a diverse clinical team.
- 6Analytical skills to design, implement, and troubleshoot nutrition programs.
- 7Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with a diverse patient population in a team environment.
- 8Sound clinical judgment in Medical Nutrition Therapy.
- 9Ability to work autonomously and make high-level decisions.
Salary Insight
$62 - $106k per year
