Charge Entry Clerk, Cardiology Coding & Billing
Overview
The Charge Entry Clerk will code and bill for physician practices at a Cardiology clinic in Phoenix, handling ICD10 and CPT coding and entering charges and adjustments into the electronic health record. You will review medical records for accurate coding and collaborate with providers to resolve missing or unclear information. What You'll Do6
- 1Review medical information and ensure accurate diagnostic and procedural codes per national guidelines
- 2Enter charges and adjustments by pay classification into the electronic health record in a timely manner
- 3Consult with medical providers to clarify missing or inadequate record information and determine appropriate codes
- 4Post health service charges and patient payments to accounts and ensure reimbursement accuracy
- 5Produce daily and monthly reports and maintain productivity standards set by leadership
- 6Identify opportunities to correct encounter forms and coding details to improve billing accuracy
Requirements5
- 1High school diploma or equivalent
- 21+ years of experience providing coding services for a broad range of clinical specialties
- 3Knowledge and understanding of ICD10 and CPT coding principles per AHIMA competencies
- 4Athena experience preferred
- 5Formal training equivalent to a two-year medical record keeping course or an associate degree in a related health care field preferred
