What You'll Do11
- 1Assess and address spiritual emotional needs of patients families and staff
- 2Document patient family assessments in clinical records
- 3Create care plans with interdisciplinary teams
- 4Plan and lead worship services
- 5Lead prayer with patients families or staff
- 6Provide education on advance directives and pastoral care topics
- 7Facilitate sacramental support including assisting Catholic priests with the Eucharist
- 8Contact local clergy when needed or requested by patients
- 9Follow safety guidelines report unsafe conditions and carry on call cell phone
- 10Attend pastoral care staff meetings and staff education sessions
- 11Serve on palliative care team attend consultations and facilitate end of life discussions
Requirements11
- 1Two years clinical chaplaincy experience preferred
- 2Master’s degree in theology divinity religious studies or pastoral ministry preferred
- 3CPC Card certification
- 4Active CPE four units within required timeframe
- 5Certification by NACC ACPE or APC or actively pursuing within required period
- 6Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church
- 7Completed Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse and Iowa Child Abuse mandatory reporter training
- 8Valid driver’s license and auto insurance
- 9Own transportation required
- 10Experience with Ethical & Religious Directives for Catholic Healthcare Services
- 11Confidentiality adherence and commitment to interdisciplinary philosophy
