Overview
Certified Peer Support Specialists provide hope and practical support to adults with severe mental illness across recovery stages in North Carolina. You will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to help clients set goals and navigate resources. This role emphasizes relationship-building, advocacy, and community engagement. The position offers onsite support in Charlotte and Gastonia, with full-time and part-time options.
What You'll Do8
- 1Build rapport with clients to foster hope and self determination
- 2Design and deliver ongoing supportive and case management activities aligned to service plans
- 3Engage clients in daily decision making and problem resolution
- 4Assist clients in locating resources and guiding them through processes
- 5Encourage participation in social activities and healthy relationships
- 6Lead recovery dialogues and self help sessions with clients
- 7Accompany clients to meetings and advocate for consumer needs in community groups
- 8Identify precursors or triggers and support effective responses to reduce functional impairment
Requirements5
- 1High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
- 21 year of experience working with mental health and substance abuse populations
- 3North Carolina Peer Support Specialist Certification required or willingness to be certified
- 4Valid driver’s license and automotive insurance
- 5CPR First Aid NCI and/or role related certification required or willing to acquire within 60 days of hiring
