Certified Medical Assistant, Primary Care (EPIC)
Overview
You will own patient flow in a busy Primary Care clinic in Waltham, MA, starting each day by prepping rooms and supporting providers during exams. You will report to the clinic lead and work alongside nurses, physicians, and administrative staff in a team that values precision and patient comfort. This temp-to-perm role offers free parking and a consistent day shift, with a focus on using EPIC to document every interaction. You will make a direct impact by cutting patient wait times and ensuring smooth clinic operations from the first week.
What You'll Do10
- 1Greet patients and escort them to exam rooms, capturing vital signs like temperature, pulse, and blood pressure within 10 minutes of arrival.
- 2Document patient histories, medications, and symptoms directly into EPIC, keeping records current for every visit.
- 3Assist providers during exams and minor procedures, handing instruments and preparing sterile fields as needed.
- 4Restock and organize exam rooms each morning, verifying all supplies and equipment meet infection control standards.
- 5Clean and turn over rooms between patients to minimize cross-contamination and maintain a welcoming space.
- 6Schedule follow-up appointments and coordinate referrals using EPIC scheduling tools, confirming details with patients.
- 7Handle lab requisitions and point-of-care tests, ensuring results are logged and flagged for provider review.
- 8Support front desk during peak times by checking in patients, verifying insurance, and updating demographics.
- 9Complete required BLS drills and annual training, staying current on emergency response protocols.
- 10Escalate equipment malfunctions or supply shortages to the clinic lead within the same shift to avoid disruptions.
Requirements9
- 12+ years of medical assistant experience in a primary care or outpatient clinic setting.
- 2Active Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited program (required).
- 3Current BLS certification (required).
- 4Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system, including charting and scheduling modules.
- 5High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- 6Ability to stand and walk for 8+ hours during shifts, with frequent bending and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- 7Experience taking vital signs and documenting them accurately under time pressure.
- 8Comfort with assisting in minor procedures and handling medical instruments.
- 9Up-to-date Covid and Flu vaccinations (required).
