Certified Medical Assistant, Outpatient & Inpatient Care
Overview
You will own patient intake and clinical support at CornerstoneMD, handling 30+ patients daily across dermatology, emergency medicine, and hospital medicine. You will work alongside 4 physicians and 6 nurses in a fast-paced clinic and hospital setting. This role offers cross-training in multiple specialties and a clear path to lead CMA positions.
What You'll Do7
- 1Own patient intake: collect medical histories, verify insurance, and record vital signs in Epic.
- 2Prepare patients for exams and procedures, explaining processes to ensure comfort and compliance.
- 3Administer medications, perform POC testing, and assist with procedures like venipuncture and EKGs.
- 4Document patient encounters in EHR with ICD-10 coding, ensuring accuracy for billing and continuity.
- 5Manage clinic flow: schedule appointments, handle referrals, and process prior authorizations.
- 6Enforce infection control and safety protocols, including OSHA standards, across all clinical areas.
- 7Partner with providers to deliver compassionate care, adapting to urgent care and hospital unit demands.
Requirements8
- 1Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from an accredited program, required.
- 21+ year of experience in family medicine, internal medicine, or urgent care, preferred.
- 31+ year of venipuncture experience, required.
- 41+ year of Spanish language proficiency, required.
- 5Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and pharmacology.
- 6Current BLS certification and ability to perform emergency response.
- 7Hands-on experience with EHR systems and ICD-10 coding.
- 8Proficiency in clinical procedures: COVID testing, flu swabs, strep tests, pregnancy tests, and urinalysis.
