CDL Driver - Recycle Mill, Dallas TX
Overview
You will own the safe, on-time transport of raw materials and finished goods between customer sites, the plant, and the paper mill, covering tractor trailer, box truck, and roll-off routes. You'll operate as the critical link in the recycling supply chain, moving tonnage at a steady, demanding pace. This role places you within the Smurfit Westrock operations team in Dallas, working with dispatch and plant staff daily. You'll bring a CDL and clean driving record to a position where precision and safety are non-negotiable.
What You'll Do9
- 1Safely operate assigned tractor trailer, box truck, or roll-off truck following all DOT regulations and traffic laws.
- 2Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, reporting any needed repairs to your supervisor.
- 3Maintain vehicle by checking fluids, tire pressures, and refueling as needed.
- 4Execute daily pickup and drop-off schedules with precision and efficiency.
- 5Complete accurate paperwork for each load, including customer or mill, truck and trailer numbers, tare and gross weights, and grade transported.
- 6Secure all contents on or in the truck or trailer before transport.
- 7Assist with loading and unloading of your truck when required, following safety protocols.
- 8Adapt driving to weather and road conditions to ensure safety at all times.
- 9Support the team with additional duties as needed, prioritizing safety in every task.
Requirements9
- 1Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) required.
- 2Clean driving record with no moving violations.
- 3High school diploma or G.E.D. strongly preferred.
- 4Skilled in driving and parking large, heavy vehicles and trailers.
- 5Alert, focused, and detail-oriented with physical and mental fitness.
- 6Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating procedures, and routing assignments.
- 7Willingness to operate a forklift and pallet jack; flatbed cargo securement may be required.
- 8Must pass a background check and drug screen.
- 9Willingness to work overtime and maintain good attendance.
