Cashier, Retail Grocery Store
Overview
You will own the customer checkout experience at Cardenas Markets, handling cash, cards, and other payment methods with speed and accuracy. You will engage with every customer, ensuring a positive and efficient interaction while maintaining a clean and organized front end. You will work alongside a collaborative team in a busy retail environment, supporting each other to meet store goals. This role stands out by offering hands-on training in store policies and procedures, including WIC compliance and Bottom of the Basket initiatives, within a culture that values integrity and community.
What You'll Do9
- 1Process customer transactions using the POS system, handling cash, debit, and credit payments accurately.
- 2Engage with customers warmly, answering questions and ensuring a positive checkout experience.
- 3Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, including sanitizing counters and bagging groceries.
- 4Follow procedures for voids, refunds, and transaction cancellations, ensuring compliance with store policies.
- 5Enforce safety and loss prevention standards at the front end, including verifying age for tobacco and liquor purchases.
- 6Support Bottom of the Basket goals by encouraging customers to place items on the conveyor belt.
- 7Participate in cashier training sessions to stay updated on WIC procedures and compliance.
- 8Monitor personal cashier productivity metrics and strive for continuous improvement in service speed.
- 9Assist with other store duties as needed, such as restocking shelves or helping with customer inquiries.
Requirements8
- 11+ year of customer service or retail experience preferred.
- 2Ability to stand and walk continuously for the duration of an 8-hour shift.
- 3Ability to lift up to 20 lbs regularly and 30 lbs occasionally.
- 4Demonstrated care and compassion for people, showing empathy and concern.
- 5Ability to build positive relationships with diverse team members and customers.
- 6Clear communication skills to enforce standards for quality, cleanliness, and food safety.
