Cashier/Sales Associate, Convenience Store Retail
Overview
You will own the customer experience at a high-traffic convenience store, from greeting every guest to keeping the entire store spotless and safe. You will run the register with POS accuracy, enforce age verification for lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales, and maintain cleanliness standards across restrooms, gas pumps, and parking lots. You will work alongside a small team, cross-train in the deli department as needed, and report directly to the store manager. What You'll Do10
- 1Greet customers with a smile and process transactions accurately using the POS system, handling cash, credit, and loyalty cards.
- 2Enforce age verification for lottery, cigarette, and alcohol sales, following all legal and company policies.
- 3Deep-clean restrooms (toilets, sinks, floors) and sanitize gas pumps (nozzles, screens, buckets) every shift.
- 4Pick up litter and trash from the floor and lot, take out trash to the dumpster in any weather, and sweep or mop entryways.
- 5Stock shelves, coolers (drinks, dairy, snacks), and displays to keep merchandise fresh and fully faced.
- 6Cross-train in the deli department to prepare sandwiches, roller grill items, and hot beverages as needed.
- 7Follow all safety procedures, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and lifting techniques.
- 8Step in to help team members with tasks, from covering breaks to assisting with inventory counts.
- 9Maintain a clean and organized store, including wiping down counters, cleaning windows, and ensuring entryways are clear.
- 10Upsell customers on promotions and combo deals to increase average transaction value and store sales.
Requirements10
- 118+ years of age and authorized to work in the US.
- 2Able to work weekends and holidays, including early morning or evening shifts.
- 3Physically able to frequently lift 10 lbs and occasionally lift 50 lbs, stand for 8+ hours, and work indoors/outdoors in all weather.
- 4Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division for cash handling and discounts.
- 5Effective communication in English (read, write, speak) for customer service and safety instructions.
- 6Pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- 7Reliable and punctual with a positive attitude and detail-oriented mindset.
- 8No prior experience required; retail or customer service experience is a plus.
- 9Flexible to learn multiple roles, including deli, cashier, and janitorial tasks.
- 10Must be comfortable using POS systems and learning new technology quickly.
