Carpenter Assistant, Construction & Tools
Overview
You will support a lead carpenter on residential and commercial construction sites across San Diego, owning material prep, tool handling, and site safety. You will work one-on-one with a skilled carpenter, gaining hands-on experience in installation, finishing, and custom builds. Frequent travel between project locations keeps the work dynamic and exposes you to diverse carpentry challenges. What You'll Do6
- 1Prepare and organize materials for carpentry tasks, ensuring all components are staged correctly.
- 2Handle and maintain hand and power tools, keeping them in optimal working condition.
- 3Assist the carpenter during installation and construction activities, supporting framing, trim, and finish work.
- 4Load and unload materials and equipment at job sites, managing logistics efficiently.
- 5Perform site clean-up to ensure a safe working environment, removing debris and organizing tools.
- 6Apply paint and finishes as required, preparing surfaces and executing final touches.
Requirements6
- 12+ years of experience in carpentry or a related construction field.
- 2Basic knowledge of carpentry techniques, including measuring, cutting, and assembly.
- 3Proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools.
- 4Strong communication skills to coordinate with the lead carpenter and other crew members.
- 5Effective problem-solving abilities to adapt to on-site challenges.
- 6Good time management skills to keep projects on schedule.
