Caregiver Skills Trainer (Care Manager)
Overview
Right at Home Long Beach seeks an experienced CNA or LVN to provide hands-on in-home training to caregivers. This per-visit hourly position involves scheduling visits to go into client homes and coach caregivers through difficult hands-on skills focusing on safe transfers and limited mobility care. The Caregiver Skills Trainer creates extraordinary client and family experiences while training caregivers in the home.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and deliver one-on-one in-home training sessions on safe transfer techniques including Hoyer lift mechanical and full body lift transfers and gait belt transfers
- 2Train caregivers on bed-bound client care such as safe repositioning and turning use of draw sheets skin and pressure injury prevention and proper body alignment
- 3Demonstrate and correct proper body mechanics to protect both caregiver and client during transfers ambulation and repositioning
- 4Coach caregivers on two-person transfers sit-to-stand and pivot transfers and wheelchair or bed-to-chair transfers
- 5Train on personal care for clients with limited mobility including bathing toileting incontinence care dressing and oral hygiene in bed
- 6Review infection control and standard precautions hand hygiene PPE use catheter and wound-adjacent care
- 7Teach recognition and reporting of changes in condition such as skin breakdown signs of infection falls risk and changes in mental status
- 8Observe caregivers performing skills in real time provide constructive feedback and document competency training completion for client files
- 9Communicate observations and concerns to the office and clinical team promptly
- 10Model RAH caregiving standards and represent the agency professionally in client homes
Requirements9
- 1Active California CNA or LVN license or certification in good standing and HCA required
- 2Minimum 3 years of hands-on clinical or home care experience including transfer techniques and mobility assistance
- 3Proven proficiency with Hoyer lift and gait belt transfers and care of bed-bound or non-ambulatory clients
- 4Current CPR and BLS certification
- 5Comfortable teaching and coaching others patient clear communicator who can break skills down step by step
- 6Reliable transportation ability to travel to client homes in and around Long Beach
- 7Ability to pass background check and TB clearance/health screening per agency and state requirements
- 8Prior experience training mentoring or precepting caregivers CNAs or home health aides
- 9Experience with additional adaptive equipment such as slide boards sit-to-stand lifts and ceiling lifts
