Overview

Mercor is looking for a biotech investment analyst with a specialist-fund background to join a paid pilot focused on expert human evaluation of drug assets. You'll help build and critique rubrics that assess commercial drugs and development programs, then apply them to a small set of companies. This is a remote, part-time engagement paying $120-$200 per hour, with potential for ongoing work as the project expands. The role sits at the intersection of biotech investing and AI evaluation, helping train expert-level AI judgment.

What You'll Do4

  • 1Design and critique evaluation frameworks for analyzing marketed drugs and drug development pipelines.
  • 2Provide end-to-end assessments of both the company and its drug assets, covering mechanism of action, clinical evidence, competitive positioning, and key value drivers.
  • 3Review investment-style theses for logical soundness, identifying weak assumptions, overconfidence, or missing factors that could undermine the case.
  • 4Apply your evaluation approach consistently across the pilot cohort of roughly 5–10 companies to generate comparative insights.

Requirements4

  • 1US-based biotech or healthcare investment analyst with experience at a specialist fund.
  • 2Strong familiarity with biotech and pharma development programs, including clinical stages and regulatory pathways.
  • 3Ability to assess both a drug asset and the company behind it holistically, from science to commercial potential.
  • 4At least 5+ years of hands-on experience evaluating biotech/pharma companies or assets.

Who Should Apply

You're a seasoned biotech investment professional who has spent years on the buy-side evaluating drug assets and companies. You're comfortable building structured assessment frameworks and equally comfortable stress-testing them. You enjoy the intellectual rigor of poking holes in investment theses and are excited to lend your expertise to improving how AI evaluates biotech and pharma opportunities.
