Overview
Scientist leads biophysical characterization on Medra's Physical AI platform. Own label-free binding assays using SPR and BLI to create autonomous high-throughput workflows. Collaborate with roboticists and engineers to integrate assays and work directly with customers. Differentiate by blending deep biophysical judgment with hands-on automation expertise.
What You'll Do8
- 1Develop validate and run SPR and BLI assays across formats including affinity kinetics epitope binning self-interaction and concentration quantitation on Carterra LSA and Gator BLI
- 2Build biophysical capabilities end-to-end from scoping need to qualification writing SOPs and preparing validated workflows
- 3Partner with roboticists to translate manual workflows into autonomous protocols covering sample handling plate setup and data pipeline integration
- 4Create rigorous analysis frameworks for kinetics fitting binning heatmaps and developability flags to guide customer decisions
- 5Integrate biophysical data with orthogonal characterization such as nanoDSF/DSC HPLC-SEC/DLS and AC-SINS for comprehensive developability insights
- 6Work directly with customers to scope campaigns communicate results and translate scientific questions into assay plans
- 7Maintain detailed ELN records and drive reproducibility across all deployed assays
- 8Drive multiple workstreams simultaneously while resolving conflicts quickly and empathetically
Requirements7
- 1Ph.D. in biochemistry biophysics structural biology or related with 2+ years industry experience or B.S./M.S. with 6+ years hands-on experience
- 2Deep hands-on expertise with SPR and/or BLI including instrument operation assay development and data analysis
- 3Strong command of binding kinetics theory including avidity mass transport regeneration and model selection
- 4Proven experience developing and qualifying biophysical assays from scratch including method validation and troubleshooting
- 5Understanding of antibody structure function and therapeutic antibody discovery process
- 6Bonus experience with high-throughput SPR platforms array-based epitope binning VHHs bispecifics Fc-fusions non-Ig scaffolds lab automation platforms Python R
- 7Track record of developing and qualifying new assays or platforms from scratch
