Overview
Join Tempus as a Bioinformatics Scientist to develop high sensitivity biomarker detection algorithms for liquid biopsy assays. You will design and optimize assays for oncology applications while collaborating across functions to produce clinically actionable insights.
What You'll Do10
- 1Develop, tune, and optimize novel assays, algorithms, machine learning and statistical models to analyze next generation sequencing data for SNV/indel/CNV/rearrangements MSI bTMB detection
- 2Create machine learning models for cell free circulating tumor DNA fraction estimation and tracking
- 3Improve molecular barcoding filtering strategies to suppress noise and correct errors
- 4Design machine learning classifiers to disambiguate clonal hematopoiesis variants from tumor derived ones
- 5Execute experiments to evaluate analytical performance supporting CAP/CLIA NYS FDA and MolDx submissions
- 6Collaborate with wet lab scientists, medical directors, clinical scientists, biostatisticians, software engineers and product managers to translate research into scalable pipelines
- 7Maintain and enhance computational pipelines for processing multimodal NGS data including epigenetics DNA and RNA
- 8Apply Python and R for data science and biological computing tasks
- 9Utilize AWS or GCP containers and workflow managers like Nextflow and Snakemake for pipeline development
- 10Contribute to scientific publications demonstrating expertise in bioinformatics and machine learning
Requirements9
- 1Ph.D. or Masters with 3+ years industry experience in bioinformatics computational biology cancer biology genetics immunology molecular biology or computer science
- 2In-depth knowledge of modern tools for processing aligning and analyzing multimodal NGS data
- 3Computational skills using Python and/or R with data science and biological computing library experience
- 4Expertise with cloud computing platforms AWS or GCP container solutions Docker and workflow management tools
- 5Proven scientific reputation through publications or successful product development contributions
- 6Strong background in statistical model construction predictive algorithm development and machine learning techniques
- 7Effective communication and presentation skills
- 8Self driven interdisciplinary teamwork ability
- 9Chi certification $100000 to $160000 USD
