Overview

You will own high-volume mental health assessments and crisis interventions for adults and youth in Multnomah County jails. You will triage, diagnose, and plan care using DSM-5-TR criteria, with no caseload. You will float across three sites: downtown adult detention, juvenile detention, and Inverness Jail. You will work alongside corrections health staff and the sheriff's office, holding authority as the Responsible Mental Health Authority. This is a limited duration role with a 10% hourly premium, essential to public health and safety.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Conduct initial mental health assessments using DSM-5-TR criteria for adults and youth entering jail.
  • 2Initiate, monitor, and discontinue suicide watch based on clinical risk assessments.
  • 3Provide crisis intervention, counseling, and education on accessing community resources.
  • 4Document all client care in Electronic Health Records and MCSO databases with precision.
  • 5Coordinate care by consulting with corrections health staff, sheriff's office, and external providers.
  • 6Attend and actively participate in site-specific staff meetings and clinical huddles.
  • 7Complete 12 hours of annual professional training per NCCHC standards.
  • 8Deliver training to corrections health and partner agencies as needed.

Requirements6

  • 1Hold an independent license (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, PsyD) through the Oregon Board.
  • 2Current CPR/BLS certification at hire.
  • 32+ years experience in a fast-paced clinical setting as a master's level clinician.
  • 4Experience in corrections or other secure settings.
  • 5Experience with severe mental illness, risk assessment, and crisis intervention.
  • 6Certification in Alcohol and Drug Counseling is desirable.
