Overview
You will own patient observation and therapeutic support on night shifts at AdventHealth in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. You will monitor behavior in real time, de-escalate crises, and document every detail to ensure safe treatment. You will work with Registered Nurses and behavioral health clinicians in a trauma-informed care model. This role offers benefits from day one and 4 weeks paid parental leave.
What You'll Do9
- 1Perform observation rounds on assigned patients, documenting in real time to detect behavior patterns.
- 2Report observations and concerns to the Registered Nurse or behavioral health clinician.
- 3De-escalate early signs of escalation in patients using clear, positive communication.
- 4Intervene with violent, potentially violent, or suicidal patients per policy guidelines.
- 5Orient patients and families to the unit and manage daily group activities.
- 6Perform environmental rounds and report unsafe conditions immediately.
- 7Implement patient-centered care and trauma-informed care in all interactions.
- 8Document patient behavior and treatment progress in computer systems.
- 9Rotate every 3rd weekend and work two 12-hour night shifts per week.
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Health or related field.
- 21+ year of position-related experience preferred.
- 3NonViolent Crisis Intervention Program certification preferred.
- 4Basic Life Support - CPR Cert preferred.
- 5Ability to communicate professionally with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
- 6Knowledge of regulatory requirements and local, state, and national laws.
- 7Proficiency in computer systems and Microsoft Office.
- 8Must be able to read, write, and speak conversational English.
- 9Physical ability to perform observation rounds and intervention duties.
