Overview
You own bar cleanliness and supply flow at a high-volume tequila and cocktail bar in New York. You prep margarita kegs, squeeze juices, and restock spirits while supporting bartenders through service. You work side-by-side with a beverage director and head bartender who train you on tequila, cocktails, and bar operations. This role suits someone committed to spirits and service who thrives on pace and precision.
What You'll Do9
- 1Maintain bar and supply area cleanliness from opening to closing, including wiping counters, polishing glassware, and organizing back bar.
- 2Prepare juices, syrups, salts, and other cocktail ingredients daily using fresh produce and house specs.
- 3Restock all bar materials: liquor, beer, wine, juices, napkins, straws, ice, and other daily supplies before and during shifts.
- 4Prepare and maintain margarita kegs, including filling, pressurizing, and monitoring line quality.
- 5Pre-bus and bus bar seating, clearing glassware and resetting stations to keep service flowing.
- 6Report equipment and beverage quality issues to head bartender or beverage director immediately.
- 7Operate and maintain all bar equipment, including blenders, juicers, and draft systems, following proper cleaning schedules.
- 8Support bartenders in preparing and serving margaritas, beer, wine, and tequila during peak rushes.
- 9Greet guests and assist with closing checks when needed, ensuring a smooth hand-off to service staff.
Requirements8
- 11+ years barback or bar support experience in a high-volume bar or restaurant.
- 2Working knowledge of tequila and cocktails, with a strong desire to learn more.
- 3Ability to work weekends, long hours, late nights, and some holidays without exception.
- 4Stamina to stand and walk for entire shifts, with frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- 5Calm and composed under pressure, with problem-solving skills and self-motivation.
- 6Excellent communication and ability to take direction from bartenders and managers.
- 7Understanding of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures, including ServSafe or equivalent certification.
- 8Commitment to hospitality and guest satisfaction, with a clean and presentable appearance.
