Backend Software Engineer, Robotics & Human-Robot Interaction
Overview
You will own backend services that power task planning and robotic workflows for warehouse robots. You'll design and build scalable systems with Python, bridging software engineering and robotics infrastructure. You'll collaborate with robotics engineers on a tight-knit team, integrating backend systems with real-world hardware. Your code directly impacts how autonomous robots operate on the warehouse floor, from conception to deployment. What You'll Do7
- 1Build backend services that support front-end systems for robotic task planning.
- 2Design and implement scalable, reliable systems using Python and Flask.
- 3Own system architecture and service design within the Human-Robot Interaction team.
- 4Develop event-driven and messaging-based architectures using Kafka and ROS.
- 5Integrate backend systems with robotic workflows in collaboration with robotics engineers.
- 6Improve performance, reliability, and maintainability of existing services.
- 7Participate in code reviews and technical discussions to raise engineering standards.
Requirements8
- 12-5+ years in backend or distributed systems engineering.
- 2Strong programming proficiency in Python.
- 3Experience building or supporting web applications with Flask or REST API.
- 4Experience with C++ or another strongly typed language such as Rust, Go, or Java.
- 5Solid understanding of software architecture, concurrency, and distributed system design.
- 6Experience with event-driven systems, messaging frameworks, or service-oriented architectures.
- 7Experience developing systems that interface with hardware, robotics, or real-world operational environments.
- 8Nice to have: familiarity with Kafka, ROS, or similar messaging systems; exposure to robotics, autonomy, or human-robot interaction.
