Autonomous Vehicle Test Driver, Airport Ground Handling
Overview
You will own the safe operation and supervision of AeroVect's autonomous airport tractors at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, moving live cargo across the airfield. You will collaborate daily with our engineering team to trial new vehicle features, log performance metrics, and provide critical feedback that directly shapes our autonomous driving technology. This role combines hands-on vehicle operation with a mission to transform ground handling for major airlines. What You'll Do7
- 1Operate AeroVect's autonomous vehicles at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to move cargo and baggage.
- 2Supervise autonomous baggage tugs during operation, manually driving them to and from the storage depot as needed.
- 3Log vehicle behavior, performance metrics, and observations for the engineering team.
- 4Conduct pre-shift and post-shift inspections of vehicles and their hardware systems.
- 5Partner with the engineering team to trial and test new vehicle features in live airport environments.
- 6Interface with airline staff and ground crew to coordinate safe loading and unloading of cargo.
- 7Provide expert feedback to improve vehicle performance and handling of complex driving scenarios.
Requirements9
- 13+ years of driving experience with a valid US Class C Driver's License and a clean record.
- 2Experience operating specialty vehicle types in complex environments, such as airport ground support or heavy equipment.
- 3Experience in a lead or sole-supervisor role demonstrating responsibility and reliability.
- 4Strong attention to detail and clear communication skills.
- 5Alertness and good driving instinct to monitor autonomous vehicle performance.
- 6Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, and pass federal background checks for an airport security badge.
- 7Preferred: associate's degree or higher, experience in airside environments, or experience operating autonomous machinery.
- 8Basic computer programming skills, with ROS experience a plus.
- 9Interest in autonomous driving and aviation, plus test driving experience.
