Assurance Senior - Financial Services
Overview
Own the day-to-day execution of financial statement audits for public and private clients in the financial services sector. You'll lead fieldwork, prepare complex disclosures under GAAP, and supervise audit associates. At BDO, you'll collaborate with managers and partners to deliver quality audits while coaching junior staff. This role builds deep expertise in SEC and PCAOB standards, with a path to CPA certification.
What You'll Do10
- 1Drive the audit plan from planning to wrap-up, ensuring fieldwork meets timeline and budget.
- 2Document, validate, and test internal controls for GAAP and SOX compliance.
- 3Prepare complex financial statements with full disclosures under GAAP.
- 4Review SEC filings for accuracy and completeness, including Section 404 audits.
- 5Communicate audit findings and suggested improvements to clients and the audit committee.
- 6Supervise and review the work of audit associates, providing feedback to help them grow.
- 7Research complex accounting issues using BDO manuals and Accounting Research Manager.
- 8Use Microsoft Office and audit tools to execute tests and document results.
- 9Collaborate with engagement managers to build audit programs and budgets.
- 10Ensure compliance with GAAS and BDO methodology on every engagement.
Requirements10
- 12+ years of audit experience in public accounting or related field.
- 2Eligible to sit for the CPA exams, with active pursuit required.
- 3Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, or other focus with CPA certification.
- 4Proficiency with Microsoft Office and audit research tools.
- 5Knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and Sarbanes-Oxley.
- 6Strong project management and communication skills.
- 7Ability to lead and supervise audit staff.
- 8Experience with SEC and PCAOB standards preferred.
- 9Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- 10Master's degree in Accountancy preferred.
Salary Insight
$74 - $115k per year
