Assistant Teacher, Early Childhood Education
Overview
You will assist the Lead Teacher in delivering lesson plans and managing classroom activities for young children at Cornerstone Family Ministries. You will ensure each child's daily care, safety, and developmental progress, working within a supportive team of educators and therapists. This role offers hands-on experience in a licensed childcare setting, with active enrollment in an Early Childhood Education degree program required.
What You'll Do8
- 1Implement lesson plans and manage classroom tasks under the Lead Teacher's guidance.
- 2Care for children, meeting their needs with dignity and respect and following teacher interaction requirements.
- 3Build positive relationships with parents through regular communication and support.
- 4Maintain classroom safety, cleanliness, and orderliness, including sanitizing toys, furniture, and equipment daily.
- 5Assist with developmental checklists, Individual Education Plans, weekly lesson plans, and progress notes for each child.
- 6Complete required training and maintain certifications including First Aid and CPR.
- 7Attend staff, family support planning, parent, and committee meetings, documenting all events.
- 8Cooperate with therapists and other professionals to enhance each child's development and make referrals as needed.
Requirements8
- 1High School Diploma or GED.
- 2CDA preferred.
- 345 hours of Early Childhood Training through the Department of Children and Families.
- 4Pass state and local criminal background checks to the satisfaction of Childcare Licensing.
- 5Actively enrolled in a degree-seeking AA or BA in Early Childhood Education at an accredited college or university, with proof of enrollment and transcripts each semester.
- 6Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate child development.
- 7Satisfactorily complete state required screening, background, and reference checks.
- 8Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
