Assistant Director Case Management Administration
Overview
The Assistant Director, Case Management and Administration supports the Department of Housing and Residence Life at American University. This full-time hybrid role involves overseeing residential student support services, managing administrative systems, and leading teams to enhance student wellbeing. The position requires decision-making authority within the Residence Life area under director supervision.
What You'll Do11
- 1Manage the residence life portion of the university CARE Network including referrals and incident follow-ups
- 2Oversee access systems such as StarRez and Guardian for housing and student services
- 3Lead crisis intervention planning and provide non-clinical mental health support to students
- 4Supervise graduate student staff through hiring, training, and weekly performance evaluations
- 5Serve on multiple committees and collaborate with campus partners for comprehensive student care
- 6Coordinate after-hours emergency response and participate in student activism support initiatives
- 7Develop programming and training for residential students and student staff
- 8Maintain accurate records using Care Network and Guardian databases
- 9Serve as liaison to university departments and provide advocacy for residential students
- 10Conduct background checks and ensure policy compliance for all operations
- 11Serve as primary trainer for CARE protocols and emergency management procedures
Requirements11
- 15+ years building ETL pipelines with Spark and Airflow
- 2Certified Professional in Case Management (CPC Card)
- 3Expertise with Guardian software
- 4Strong knowledge of student development theory and case management models
- 5Proven leadership in residential student support environments
- 6Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and non-traditional scheduling flexibility
- 7Background in higher education administration or student affairs
- 8Ability to work collaboratively across diverse campus stakeholder groups
- 9Demonstrated expertise in non-clinical case management practices
- 10Familiarity with national trends in student basic needs and wellbeing research
- 11Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
