Maersk seeks an Area Head of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) – East to lead HSE strategy across 100 facilities in the Eastern US and Canada. The role drives safety excellence, influences stakeholders without direct authority, and shapes operational performance through strategic partnerships. What You'll Do9
- 1Lead and develop a regional team of HSE professionals supporting approximately 100 facilities across the Eastern region
- 2Drive implementation of global HSE standards aligned with local regulations and operational needs
- 3Partner with operational leaders to identify assess and mitigate health safety and environmental risks
- 4Champion a culture of safety accountability inclusion and continuous improvement throughout the business
- 5Conduct site visits audits and leadership engagements to enhance frontline safety performance
- 6Lead HSE improvement plans establish governance reporting and performance management systems
- 7Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Operations People Legal Procurement and Global HSE teams
- 8Support growth initiatives facility launches customer implementations and operational expansions via HSE risk assessments
- 9Coach leaders and operations teams on HSE best practices risk management and compliance expectations
Requirements11
- 110+ years of progressive experience in Health Safety & Environment leadership roles
- 2Strong experience supporting warehousing transportation logistics distribution or supply chain operations
- 3Proven track record leading multi-site HSE programs and geographically dispersed teams
- 4Experience managing managers and developing high-performing teams
- 5Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence without direct authority
- 6Strong problem-solving conflict-resolution and change-management capabilities
- 7Ability to balance strategic priorities with hands-on operational leadership
- 8University degree in HSE Occupational Health Safety Risk Environmental Sciences or related field
- 9Professional HSE certifications OSHA-related credentials or equivalent qualifications valued
- 10Experience working within large matrixed and global organizations
- 1110+ years of progressive experience in Health Safety & Environment leadership roles
Salary Insight
$155 - $170k per year
