API-focused Software Engineer, Contract in Charlotte NC
Overview
You will design and build API integrations for our client's platform, owning delivery from requirements to production. You will collaborate with a team of engineers and product managers to ship scalable services. This contract role offers hands-on work with modern Java and Spring Boot microservices, directly influencing core business functionality. You will also have the opportunity to work with AWS and Docker in a fast-moving environment, making a tangible impact from day one.
What You'll Do7
- 1Design and implement RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot to support new features.
- 2Build integration layers connecting internal systems with third-party services via JSON and OAuth.
- 3Write unit tests with JUnit and Mockito to ensure code reliability and maintainability.
- 4Debug production issues using Splunk and New Relic, proposing fixes and improvements.
- 5Collaborate with frontend engineers to define API contracts and ensure smooth data flow.
- 6Create and maintain technical documentation for API endpoints and workflows.
- 7Automate deployment pipelines with Jenkins and Docker to reduce manual steps.
Requirements7
- 15+ years building software with Java and Spring Boot.
- 23+ years designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
- 3Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases like PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
- 4Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, and Lambda.
- 5Experience containerizing applications with Docker and orchestrating with Kubernetes.
- 6Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitLab CI.
- 7Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues in distributed systems.
