Overview
Own the end-to-end development of AI-powered products at Legalist, collaborating with the co-founder to ship production-ready tools at scale. You will design, build, and iterate on AI-driven workflows across internal and external systems in a fast-paced setting. What You'll Do10
- 1Build new AI products, tools, and features
- 2Develop applications using LLMs and foundation model APIs
- 3Create AI agents and multi-step workflows connecting models with systems
- 4Integrate third-party APIs, internal data sources, and existing software
- 5Design and implement RAG pipelines including retrieval and vector search
- 6Build backend services and APIs to support AI applications
- 7Prototype ideas, test thoroughly, and turn prototypes into production tools
- 8Evaluate models on accuracy, latency, cost, and reliability
- 9Establish evaluations and testing processes to improve outputs
- 10Stay current on models, tools, and AI capabilities
Requirements9
- 13+ years of professional software development experience
- 2Hands-on experience building applications with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar
- 3Experience building AI agents or tool-calling workflows
- 4Strong understanding of APIs, backend development, databases, and cloud infrastructure
- 5Experience taking software from prototype through production
- 6Familiarity with prompt design, context management, model evaluation, and techniques for improving LLM reliability
- 7Experience across multiple technical projects or clients
- 8Comfortable working independently without detailed requirements
- 9Local to New York City and available for in-person sessions
