After School Nurse, WSCP & Health Management
Overview
You own health, medical, and training needs for the WSCP after-school program, serving students, staff, and families. You serve as the primary medical liaison, triaging injuries, administering medications, and developing individualized healthcare plans. You collaborate with staff, parents, and community agencies to ensure a safe, supportive environment. What You'll Do10
- 1Initiate and manage all state-mandated health requirements, including immunizations and screenings.
- 2Triage student and staff injuries or illness, providing intervention and follow-up care.
- 3Administer medications per school policy and state regulations, including EpiPen and CPR protocols.
- 4Develop and maintain individualized healthcare plans (IHPs) for students with documented health needs.
- 5Facilitate special nursing care for technology-dependent students, coordinating with providers.
- 6Act as a nurse educator for students, parents, and staff on health-related topics.
- 7Collaborate with staff to implement safety plans for students with health conditions.
- 8Maintain computerized medical records and submit reports to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
- 9Communicate with parents, physicians, and agencies to coordinate care and community referrals.
- 10Attend professional development and required training to stay current on nursing best practices.
Requirements9
- 1Active RN license in Massachusetts (required).
- 21+ year of nursing experience (required).
- 3BLS Certification (required).
- 4Certification in First Aid, CPR, and EpiPen administration.
- 5Authorized to provide EpiPen training to staff.
- 6Successful completion of C.O.R.I., S.O.R.I., and fingerprinting.
- 7Relocation to Wayland, MA before starting (required).
- 8Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- 9Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
