
Actuarial Analyst, P&C Personal Lines
Overview
You will own state filing workflows for personal lines at Stanley David and Associates, driving rate indications, trend analysis, and DOI submissions across a $82K-$140K book. You will join a collaborative actuarial team reporting to the Director of the Line of Business, working onsite in Plano, TX. This role stands apart with direct exposure to regulatory engagement and the chance to shape pricing strategies for multiple states. You will leverage Python or SQL to build models and influence decisions from day one.
What You'll Do8
- 1Own the state filing process for assigned states, including developing rates, revising rate structures, and preparing DOI documentation.
- 2Drive trend analysis by selecting and validating data to support rate level indications, translating business problems into technical requirements.
- 3Run actuarial models and communicate results to stakeholders, ensuring a strong control environment with Director guidance.
- 4Build and enhance data queries and procedures in Python or SQL to support pricing and reserving decisions.
- 5Apply CAS-level techniques to solve unstructured business problems, from product analysis to regulatory challenges.
- 6Coordinate DOI objections, respond to regulator feedback, and secure sign-off from the Lead Actuary.
- 7Ensure risks are identified and mitigated in line with compliance policies, supporting fact-based decision-making.
- 8Deliver independent analysis on personal lines products, using statistical methods to augment actuarial work products.
Requirements8
- 13+ years of actuarial experience, with at least 2 exams completed in CAS.
- 2Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3Proven P&C insurance experience, specifically in personal lines.
- 4Hands-on state filing experience with DOI for personal lines insurance, preferably with a track record of successful filings.
- 5Intermediate proficiency in Python or SQL for data analysis and model building.
- 6Demonstrated ability to apply actuarial, mathematical, and statistical techniques independently.
- 7Familiarity with reserving, modeling, and rate indication methodologies.
- 8Strong communication skills for drafting regulatory documents and responding to DOI.
