Activity Leader, After-School Enrichment K-5 Miami
Overview
Activity Leader owns the daily delivery of enrichment programs for students in grades K–5 at Big Ideas Educational Services in Miami. Build and lead hands-on activities in physical fitness, social-emotional learning, and recreation that keep students engaged and safe. Collaborate with site staff and communicate with parents to ensure every child thrives. This role stands apart by blending structured play with academic support for learners who need alternatives to traditional classrooms.
What You'll Do10
- 1Plan and lead age-appropriate enrichment activities in physical fitness, nutrition, and social skills for K–5 students
- 2Implement the Physical Fitness component with fitness drills, conditioning exercises, and outdoor games
- 3Support academic and home-learning assistance as needed during structured blocks
- 4Create and maintain a safe, inclusive environment for students ages 5–12, adjusting approach to individual needs
- 5Supervise students at all times, redirecting behavior with positive guidance strategies
- 6Follow daily schedules for enrichment topics like science, culture, art, and recreation
- 7Assist with snack distribution, site setup, and daily shutdown procedures
- 8Collaborate with teachers and site staff during indoor and outdoor activities
- 9Attend weekly or monthly staff meetings and participate in required trainings
- 10Communicate professionally with parents about student participation and behavior
Requirements9
- 1High school diploma or equivalent
- 21-2 years experience working with children in a group setting, preferably after-school, camp, or childcare
- 3Ability to lead group activities with energy, structure, and enthusiasm
- 4Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- 5Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
- 6Patient, positive, and supportive approach to student learning and development
- 7Belief in the potential of all children and the ability to motivate students daily
- 8Trustworthy, reliable, punctual, and professional
- 9Completion of the mandatory 40-hour Introductory Child Care Training
