Overview
Own the scouting strategy and daily operations for the Orlando City Academy, identifying and recruiting top talent across Homegrown and MLS Open Territories. Lead a network of regional scouts, manage the scouting database, and deliver player reports to technical staff. This role reports directly to the Academy Director and Technical Director, shaping the future of the club's player pipeline. You will work at the intersection of data and on-field evaluation, with direct impact on first-team and academy success. This is a full-time, onsite role in Orlando, Florida, with non-traditional hours.
What You'll Do9
- 1Scout players for academy teams in Orlando City SC Homegrown Territories, attending matches and training sessions to evaluate talent.
- 2Explore and scout players in MLS Open Territories, expanding the club's recruitment reach.
- 3Manage Regional and Network Scouts in local and open territories, setting priorities and reviewing their reports.
- 4Observe players and write detailed reports for technical staff, using clear and consistent evaluation criteria.
- 5Manage the scouting database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records for all prospects.
- 6Recommend players for academy tryouts or Talent ID sessions, building a pipeline of potential signings.
- 7Collaborate with the Player Development Lead to align recruitment with player development goals.
- 8Attend OC Academy training sessions and games to monitor player progress and identify new targets.
- 9Drive scouting initiatives for upcoming seasons, setting measurable goals for the scouting team.
Requirements8
- 1USSF 'B' License or equivalent coaching certification.
- 25+ years of experience working in elite soccer environments.
- 33+ years of experience in scouting roles.
- 4Proven track record of identifying and recruiting players at a competitive level.
- 5Strong communication and interpersonal skills for building rapport with players, families, and staff.
- 6Excellent organizational and leadership skills to manage multiple scouting priorities.
- 7Collaborative management style, comfortable leading a team and working within a group.
- 8Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, in various settings.
