Overview
You will own the fabrication and assembly of metal products for a production team at Marlin Steel Wire Products in Baltimore. You will operate MIG, TIG, and resistance welders along with press brakes, shears, and grinders to produce high-quality components. You will read blueprints, select materials like mild steel, stainless steel, or aluminum, and verify dimensions to meet ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards. What You'll Do10
- 1Operate MIG welders, TIG welders, resistance welders, press brakes, hand bending tools, ring rollers, saws, and shears to fabricate metal products.
- 2Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and assembly instructions to determine product specifications and dimensions.
- 3Select materials (mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum) based on project requirements and weldability.
- 4Measure workpiece dimensions using tape measures, micrometers, and calipers to verify accuracy and adjust as needed.
- 5Troubleshoot malfunctions in welding and fabrication equipment, performing repairs to minimize downtime.
- 6Perform minor maintenance tasks such as oiling machines, dies, and workpieces to extend equipment life.
- 7Monitor machine operations for defects or mechanical issues, adjusting settings to maintain quality output.
- 8Complete quality control forms and follow ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 procedures to document compliance.
- 9Deburr, grind, and remove rust from workpieces to ensure smooth, safe surfaces.
- 10Communicate with supervisors and team members during shift changes to ensure seamless workflow.
Requirements10
- 1High school diploma or GED.
- 2Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and resistance welding with the ability to produce sound welds.
- 3Understanding of welding principles, fabrication processes, and blueprint reading.
- 4Experience using measuring equipment (tape measure, micrometer) for part verification.
- 5Knowledge of raw materials (mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum) and their welding characteristics.
- 6Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn new equipment and techniques.
- 7Problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose defects and optimize production.
- 8Physical ability to lift up to 55 lbs., stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- 9Tolerance for exposure to heat, sparks, dust, and industrial fumes while wearing required safety gear.
- 10Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and communicate effectively in English.
