Overview

This role owns the student teaching experience at Augsburg University, coordinating placements, training supervisors, and supporting candidates through their licensure journey. Collaborating with Education faculty, K-12 partners, and state licensing bodies, you will design and implement equity-focused student teaching programs. The position includes teaching 3 courses per year alongside coordination duties. You will shape the next generation of diverse educators in a university committed to intentional diversity and urban engagement. This is a non-tenure track visiting role starting August 2026.

What You'll Do9

  • 1Design and enrich the student teaching experience with attention to equity and social justice oriented teaching, collaborating with faculty, partner schools, and candidates
  • 2Communicate with K-12 schools and districts to meet candidate needs and maintain strong relationships
  • 3Promote successful student teaching completion by offering information sessions, regular seminars, and individualized support plans
  • 4Support student teaching supervisors and cooperating teachers through training, workshops, and regular meetings
  • 5Maintain records of supervisor and cooperating teacher trainings for state and departmental reporting
  • 6Stay current on state licensing requirements for all teacher licensure programs and provide feedback to the department
  • 7Participate in Metro and State placement coordinator meetings and MACTE initiatives, collaborating with placement directors
  • 8Support the Placement Coordinator with verification processes, data entry, and compensation for cooperating teachers
  • 9Coordinate updates to handbooks, policies, and procedures for student teaching

Requirements7

  • 1Master's degree in Education
  • 2Experience with instructional coaching through mentoring student teachers or new E-12 teachers
  • 3Holds or has held a professional teaching license
  • 4At least three years of experience as a teacher-of-record within a diverse E-12 setting OR current or former E-12 administrator with documented teacher evaluation experience in a diverse E-12 setting
  • 5Doctorate degree focused on pedagogy, teaching, or K-12 content-specific instruction (preferred)
  • 6Ability to travel within the Twin Cities area to schools and district offices
  • 7Some Saturday and evening teaching and events required
