Vice President for Community Engagement, Higher Education
Overview
As Vice President for Community Engagement, you own the College's external strategy across Philadelphia, serving on the President's Cabinet and leading the Institute for Community Engagement and Civic Leadership. You build partnerships with government agencies, employers, nonprofits, and civic leaders, expanding workforce pathways and civic participation. Your team runs regional centers and the City College for Municipal Employment, with a focus on measurable community impact. This role offers a platform to shape institutional policy and strengthen the College's role as an anchor institution.
What You'll Do8
- 1Develop a community engagement strategy aligned with the College's strategic plan, targeting a 10% increase in partnerships within the first year.
- 2Lead liaison efforts with neighborhood organizations, nonprofit agencies, faith-based institutions, employers, and civic associations to boost educational attainment and economic mobility.
- 3Oversee government relations at local, state, and federal levels, building relationships with elected officials and policy leaders to advocate for community college priorities.
- 4Direct the Institute for Community Engagement and Civic Leadership, promoting civic learning and volunteerism with defined metrics for student and faculty participation.
- 5Strengthen partnerships with the City of Philadelphia through the City College for Municipal Employment, expanding career pathways and aligning programs with workforce needs.
- 6Represent the College at public events and forums, enhancing visibility and influence across the city and region.
- 7Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and the College Foundation to integrate community engagement into institutional advancement and fundraising efforts.
- 8Monitor legislative and policy changes affecting community colleges, providing strategic recommendations to the President's Cabinet.
Requirements8
- 110+ years of progressively responsible leadership in higher education, government, or community development.
- 2Master's degree from an accredited institution, required.
- 3Proven success building partnerships with diverse constituencies, including elected officials and government agencies.
- 4Strong strategic planning and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- 5Experience leading community engagement, public affairs, or external affairs functions, preferred.
- 6Doctoral degree from an accredited institution, preferred.
- 7Knowledge of Philadelphia's civic, governmental, educational, and workforce ecosystems.
- 8Experience in community college leadership, preferred.

$119 - $197k per year
