Vehicle Validation Driver, Automotive Testing & Reliability
Overview
This role owns the final validation of pre-production and production vehicles on public roads in Detroit. You will drive 8-10 hour shifts, covering designated routes to surface issues across powertrain, build quality, and system functionality. Your evaluations directly inform engineering and quality teams, shaping the next generation of vehicles. You will work with iPad and digital maps for reporting, and your attention to detail will make you a key player in ensuring every vehicle meets standards. This is a hands-on role for drivers who notice every vibration and rattle, with a clear impact on product quality.
What You'll Do6
- 1Drive pre-production and production vehicles on public roads for 8-10 hours per shift, following designated routes
- 2Execute testing procedures safely, obeying all traffic laws and internal safety practices
- 3Maneuver oversized vehicles and operate confidently in adverse weather conditions
- 4Complete comprehensive evaluations for every vehicle, documenting issues in a clear, concise report using an iPad
- 5Surface issues across powertrain, build quality, system functionality, and design to engineering teams
- 6Maintain reliable attendance and complete required training for vehicle testing protocols
Requirements8
- 121+ years old with a valid Michigan driver's license held for at least 5 years
- 2Clean driving history: no points, no major citations or accidents in the past three years, no DUI or DWAI
- 3Comfort with digital tools including reading maps and using iPad or tablet for instructions and reporting
- 4Physically able to lift 25 lbs and remain alert during prolonged driving
- 5High school diploma or equivalent; reliable attendance and completion of required training
- 6Clear verbal communication and legible, detailed written documentation
- 7Positive attitude and ability to follow directions precisely
- 8Able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening
