What You'll Do8

  • 1Coach student athletes in cross country, building endurance and race strategies for 5K events.
  • 2Organize and supervise the total sports program, including practice plans and meet logistics.
  • 3Establish positive rapport with students, staff, and parents to foster team cohesion.
  • 4Verify all athletes meet AIA and district eligibility before each scheduled event.
  • 5Communicate team policies to varsity, JV, and freshman athletes.
  • 6Enforce district and school drug/alcohol codes during all team activities.
  • 7Report team rosters and meet scores to the Athletic Director's office in a timely manner.
  • 8Assist the Athletic Director with athletic events beyond cross country as needed.

Requirements9

  • 1Previous successful coaching experience in cross country or a related sport.
  • 2Valid Arizona teacher certification, Arizona coaching certification, or NFHS Level 1 Certification (for head/varsity positions).
  • 3Hold a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • 4Maintain current First Aid/CPR certification.
  • 5Complete NFHS online course 'Fundamentals of Coaching'.
  • 6Complete NFHS online course 'Concussion in Sports - What You Need to Know'.
  • 7Provide customer service to students, parents, and staff, following directions and meeting standards.
  • 8Pay attention to detail in assignments and organize supplies.
  • 9Use computer and relevant software for record keeping and communication.
