Tree Trimmer/Hardscape Worker I
Overview
City of Lakewood, CA seeks a dedicated Tree Trimmer/Hardscape Worker I to execute semi-skilled maintenance tasks across urban landscapes. This entry-level role involves routine duties such as tree trimming, pruning, and street maintenance while supporting senior crew members. The ideal candidate will progress rapidly toward full responsibilities within the Tree Trimmer/Hardscape Worker Series.
What You'll Do11
- 1Lead crew in planting, transplanting, pruning, and removal of trees
- 2Diagnose tree disease and notify supervisor Chip
- 3Trim trees for structural integrity and clearance of street infrastructure
- 4Perform irrigation and fertilization of trees and shrubs
- 5Check work locations for hazards before cutting limbs
- 6Set up temporary traffic control devices per JPIA standards
- 7Operate equipment including aerial lifts and hand tools
- 8Clean and maintain trimming/hardscape equipment
- 9Document completed work using Go Gov software
- 10Load, lift, and carry materials as needed
- 11Maintain daily logs and respond to service requests via mobile device
Requirements9
- 1Valid California Class C driver's license with clean driving record
- 25+ years experience with Spark and Airflow for ETL pipeline development
- 3High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 4Knowledge of tree surgery fundamentals and safety regulations
- 5Ability to work at heights up to 65 feet using aerial lift trucks
- 6Physical stamina for lifting 50 pounds and standing for extended periods
- 7Strong communication skills for instruction adherence
- 8Basic computer literacy for record keeping and software use
- 9Willingness to perform heavy manual labor and follow safety protocols
