Overview
You will own surgical technology within a hospital-based Labor & Delivery unit, supporting high-acuity procedures across C-section and emergency surgeries. You will join a 13-week travel contract with 3x12 rotating shifts, including every other weekend. The unit relies on Epic for charting, and you will work alongside a dedicated surgical team. This role demands NBSTSA or NCCT certification and proven OB experience, offering a focused opportunity to impact maternal and neonatal outcomes.
What You'll Do8
- 1Prepare and maintain sterile fields for C-section and other OB procedures, ensuring instrument availability and function.
- 2Scrub in for surgical cases, passing instruments and supplies to the surgeon within the Labor & Delivery OR.
- 3Anticipate surgeon needs during complex deliveries, including emergency hysterectomies and fetal interventions.
- 4Document surgical counts and patient data accurately within Epic charting system for each procedure.
- 5Coordinate with the surgical team to ensure adherence to AORN standards and patient safety protocols.
- 6Manage surgical inventory, restocking and rotating supplies to meet daily case demands.
- 7Support circulating nurses with specimen handling and intraoperative diagnostics as needed.
- 8Participate in shift handoffs, communicating critical intraoperative details to incoming teams.
Requirements7
- 1Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from NBSTSA or NCCT
- 2OB surgical experience required
- 3BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- 4License required if applicable
- 5Flu vaccine required with no exemptions
- 6Willingness to work rotating 3x12 shifts including every other weekend
- 7Acceptance of local candidate rate if within 60 miles
