Travel ER Nurse, Emergency Room RN - NYC
Overview
Own the first-response care in a high-volume NYC emergency room, stabilizing trauma and acute conditions across all ages. You'll work alongside a seasoned ER team and travel staffing coordinators who handle logistics, so you focus on patient outcomes. What You'll Do8
- 1Triage incoming patients in the emergency room, prioritizing life-threatening conditions like cardiac arrest and stroke within the first 90 days.
- 2Deliver ACLS-guided interventions for critical cases, including defibrillation and airway management, while coordinating with the ER physician team.
- 3Administer medications and IV therapies for patients with acute pain, infections, or allergic reactions, adjusting per vitals.
- 4Stabilize trauma patients using PALS and TNCC protocols, from initial assessment to handoff to specialty units.
- 5Document patient assessments and interventions in the EHR, ensuring accurate records for continuity of care.
- 6Collaborate with ER techs and paramedics to manage patient flow and reduce wait times during peak shifts.
- 7Educate patients and families on post-discharge care and warning signs, reducing readmission rates.
- 8Adapt to rapid changes in patient status, re-prioritizing care as new emergencies arrive.
Requirements7
- 11+ years of current ER experience in a hospital setting.
- 2Active New York State RN license or willingness to obtain before start.
- 3BLS certification from AHA required.
- 4ACLS and PALS certifications required for assignment.
- 5TNCC or STABLE certification preferred, or obtain within 30 days of hire.
- 6Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- 7Comfort with high-acuity trauma and pediatric emergencies.
