Tool Maker, CNC Machining & Fixture Design
Overview
You will own the full lifecycle of production tooling and fixtures, from CNC programming and machining to repair and improvement. Working at Wipro Givon in Seattle, you will support manufacturing with hands-on problem solving, using Fanuc or Haas controls for 3-axis CNC work and manual machining for secondary operations. You will coordinate with engineering and quality teams to maintain ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards, while delivering high-quality workholding solutions. This role offers $33-$38/hour and a 4-day workweek, with the chance to directly improve production efficiency and product quality.
What You'll Do10
- 1Manufacture, repair, modify, and improve tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices to support production requirements.
- 2Program, set up, and operate 3-axis CNC machines with Fanuc or Haas controls, optimizing for quality and repeatability.
- 3Operate manual mills, lathes, grinders, and related equipment for repair work, fitting, and secondary operations.
- 4Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining sequences and workholding methods.
- 5Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and workholding techniques for each job.
- 6Use precision measuring equipment to verify dimensions, tolerances, and fit of completed work.
- 7Troubleshoot tooling and fixture issues, developing practical solutions that minimize production disruption.
- 8Design or modify workholding fixtures and provide input on tooling improvements and manufacturability.
- 9Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering, NC Programming, and Quality teams to resolve tooling and production issues.
- 10Maintain accurate records and comply with ISO 9001/AS9100 quality management system requirements.
Requirements10
- 110+ years of machining experience, including 5+ years performing comparative CNC and manual toolmaking duties.
- 2Demonstrated ability to program, set up, and operate 3-axis CNC machines with Fanuc or Haas controls.
- 3Strong manual machining skills for repair work, fitting, rework, and secondary operations.
- 4Experience designing or modifying workholding fixtures is highly desirable.
- 5Technical degree, apprenticeship, or trade school training in machining or toolmaking is a plus.
- 6Ability to read and interpret safety rules, work instructions, drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- 7Strong verbal and written communication skills, dependable attendance, and reliability.
- 8Self-motivated and detail-oriented, able to troubleshoot problems and work with minimal supervision.
- 9Capability to stand and walk for extended periods, and regularly lift 10–20 pounds, occasionally up to 40–50 pounds.
- 10Must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR regulations.
