Therapeutic Technician, Outpatient Therapy (PRN)
Overview
As a Therapeutic Technician at Nemours Children's Health, you will own the preparation and delivery of patient care services for outpatient therapy, spanning pediatric, adolescent, and adult populations. You will maintain treatment areas to safety and infection control standards, assist licensed therapists with patient activities, and perform pre-planned treatments such as independent exercise programs, functional and gross motor activities, and aquatic therapy. You will also handle equipment upkeep, supply orders, and patient scheduling, becoming a key support for the entire therapy team. This casual/PRN role offers flexibility and direct experience in a leading children's health system, covering both Wilmington and Becks Woods, DE locations.
What You'll Do9
- 1Prepare and maintain therapeutic treatment and patient care areas, ensuring compliance with safety and infection control guidelines.
- 2Assist therapists and nursing personnel with patient transfers, ambulation, and activities of daily living.
- 3Execute designated pre-planned patient care treatments, including monitoring independent exercise programs, functional and gross motor activities, and aquatic therapy.
- 4Maintain equipment and treatment areas, performing daily and monthly checks and logs, and adhering to OSHA standards for machine and tool use.
- 5Order and stock medical, nonmedical, nutritional, self-care, splinting, office supplies, and linens within budgetary guidelines.
- 6Answer phones, schedule appointments, and perform patient check-in as needed.
- 7Assist in organizing and implementing volunteer, wellness, and summer group programs.
- 8Attend monthly program meetings and complete required in-service training, including safety, infection control, HIPAA, corporate compliance, respiratory training, and CPR.
- 9Notify appropriate healthcare team members when patient concerns arise.
Requirements8
- 1High School Diploma required.
- 26+ months of related experience.
- 3American Heart Association BLS Certification required upon hire and maintained for duration of employment.
- 4Proficiency in care for all ages: pediatric, adolescent, and adult.
- 5Ability to follow basic medical precautions for each patient.
- 6Knowledge of confidentiality related to conversation, medical records, and treatment plans.
- 7Experience with aquatic therapy preferred.
- 8Strong organizational and communication skills.
